Route Overview
Embark on an exhilarating six-day adventure along the scenic Machame Route, also known as the “Whiskey Route,” as you ascend Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro. This carefully crafted itinerary combines captivating natural beauty, challenging terrain, and comfortable accommodations, ensuring an unforgettable journey through diverse landscapes.
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be greeted and transferred to the charming town of Moshi, located at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. Take some time to rest and prepare for your upcoming expedition.
After breakfast, you'll be driven to the Machame Gate, the starting point of your trek. Begin your ascent through lush rainforests filled with a myriad of flora and fauna, gradually ascending towards the Machame Camp. The trail is challenging but rewarding, offering glimpses of stunning scenery along the way.

Embark on an invigorating trek from Machame Camp, ascending further into Afro-montane forest. As you continue your journey, you'll emerge from the dense foliage into vast heather moorlands. Traverse across stunning ridges and valleys before reaching the Shira Camp, nestled beneath the majestic Shira Plateau.
Difficulty Level: Moderate to strenuous
Accommodation: Shira Camp
Today's trek takes you up to the Lava Tower, which stands at an altitude of 4,600 meters, providing breathtaking panoramic views. Afterward, descend to the Barranco Camp, situated in a picturesque valley. The route offers spectacular scenery, including the imposing Barranco Wall, which you'll conquer with the assistance of your experienced guides.

As you leave Barranco Camp, climb the iconic Barranco Wall, showcasing your determination and agility. Traverse across rocky paths and rolling hills to reach the Karanga Camp, where a refreshing lunch awaits. Afterward, continue your ascent to the Barafu Camp, situated at an altitude of 4,673 meters, in preparation for your final push to the summit.

Awaken before midnight to begin your challenging summit attempt. Under the guidance of your experienced guides, make your way through the treacherous scree slopes towards Stella Point, where you'll witness a breathtaking sunrise. Push forward to the iconic Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters, before descending to the Mweka Camp for a rest and nourishment. Finally, head down to the Mweka Gate, where you'll be transferred back to Moshi to celebrate your remarkable accomplishment.
