Chapwani Private Island

Chapwani Private Island offers an exclusive holiday experience, perfect for honeymooners or guests seeking a tranquil and intimate retreat with personalized service. Located just over a mile from the northwest coast of Stone Town—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—access to Chapwani is conveniently provided via a 15-minute boat ride.

The island features only ten rooms, accommodating a maximum of 20 guests at any time, which ensures exceptional attention and service. The lodge exudes a traditional African ambiance, decorated with local art and furniture that reflects the culture and heritage of the region. Spanning approximately 800 meters long and 200 meters wide, Chapwani boasts cozy coves, pristine white sandy beaches, and stunning coral reefs, all surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, including baobabs, palm trees, and passion fruit, alongside diverse wildlife.

Chapwani Private Island offers ideal conditions for swimming and snorkeling, making it a haven for water enthusiasts. While excellent diving spots are available near Stone Town, the premier diving experiences are found off Pemba and the southern island of Mafia, both renowned for their spectacular sites.

Guests can also enjoy canoeing, with four canoes available to explore the island’s coastline. Additional activities include beach volleyball, archery, and pétanque. For a more immersive experience, trips with local fishermen and sailing excursions can be arranged, providing unique opportunities to engage with the local culture and marine environment.
